





Caves and Lagoon
Secret ports,ancient temples and mystical sea caves

Tour Plan:
• Depart from Lido Seaside Hotel or the marina of Kiato at around 9:30 AM.
• First Stop at Alkyon Islands.
Twenty minutes after we depart we will reach the infamous Alkyon Islands. Opposite the cape of Olmy, the Alkyon Islands or "Good Islands" are located. They consist of four small islands: Zoodochos Pigi, Daskalio, Glaronisi and Prasonisi. The name of little islands comes from the ancient Greek mythology. The Alkyonids were the seven daughters of the mythical giant Alkion. When Hercules killed their father, they were thrown into the sea and transformed into birds by the Amphitrite, the goddess of the sea and wife of Poseidon. Today there are only a few buildings on the islands. Among them is the historical monastery of Zoodohos Pigi, on the homonymous island, built in the 12th century AD. century by inhabitants of the wider region. In the monastery the miraculous byzantine icon of the Lady of Calonissos was housed. Volcanic red beaches and crystal clear waters are waiting for the visitors to explore on these mythical islands!
• Second Stop at the Cave of the Phokia.
Hidden among rocky formations opposite the tiny Alkinonis Islands, is one of the most beautiful sights of the Corinthian gulf. The Cave of the Phokia, the absolute highlight of our trip. A miniature of the Maltese Azure Window, this stunning sea cave and hidden paradise remains vastly unspoiled since the access to the area is really difficult. An ideal place for snorkeling, the Cave of the Phokia is one of the most pure places in the Corinthian Gulf.
• Third Stop at the White Beach.
We will continue our adventure by visiting the most notorious secret beach of the Corinthian gulf. Labeled as the x beach, people compare this little hidden gem with the infamous beach of Navagio in Zante. From the partial collapse of a limestone hill, nature has formed yet another miracle, this unspoiled beach with the incredibly clean waters is one of the wonders that our trip will unveil to the visitor.
• Fourth Stop at Heraion.
After travelling a bit further, in the north east corner of the Corinthian Gulf we will reach Heraion. In this small cove, well protected by steep rock formations a remnant of ancient Greece, a sanctuary dedicated to the Goddess Hera. The visitor can explore the remains of the mystical temple of Hera and the surrounding area, and learn about it’s unique architecture. Heraion stands there for centuries, surrounded by myths and legends, a place essential for Ancient Greek rural cults.
Overlooking area the visitor and find the imposing Melagavi Lighthouse, just above the ancient site. Following a narrow path between the rocky formations of the cape, and after a few minutes you can reach the lighthouse, dominating above the Corinthian Gulf and safeguarding the passing ships since the 19th century. The location offers a majestic view of the Gulf.
The Heraion cove is ideal for snorkeling and the bravest of visitors can even try some cliff diving!
• Fifth Stop at Vouliagmeni Lake.
Taking the way back we will enter Vouliagmeni Lake. This peaceful lake is connected with the sea by a narrow canal. It has a length of 2km and 1km width and it’s estimated depth is 40m. The shores of the lake was one of the first inhabited areas of the Hellenic area, with the traces of human settlement from prehistoric times. After exploring the lake and maybe try snorkeling to it’s azure waters, we will head for lunch to one of the numerous fish taverns around the lake. There you can enjoy fresh fish of rare quality accompanied with local wine.
• Return to Lido Hotel.

Galaxidi
Quaint alleyways, picturesque harbors and captains of old

Tour Plan:
• First Stop at the Cape of Markinikolas.
We will start our adventure travelling north-west from Lido Hotel at around 9:30 AM. After a little bit over than fifteen nautical miles (30 min) we will reach the cape of Makrinikolas. At this remote cape you can visit the monastery dedicated to the protector of the sailors, Saint Nikolaos. The first structures of the complex were built during the 18th century.
• Second Stop at Galaxidi.
One of the prettiest towns on the Gulf of Corinth, Galaxidi is graced with narrow cobblestone streets, beautiful stone houses and two small harbours. Galaxidi used to be the home of the countries most important shipping families. Nowadays the town is reasonably tranquil, offering a variety of restaurants serving fresh fish, museums and interesting scenic alleys to explore.
Visiting nearby archaeological site Delphi is also an option but it has
to be arranged from before and might modify our tour plan (sailing to Itea and from there hire cabs to Delphi 15 min drive/route - not included).
• Return to Lido Hotel.

This little uninhabited islands of the Corinthian Gulf are the natural gateway to the small gulf of Domvreni. Here you will have the opportunity to swim in calm, azure waters and explore remote beaches ideal for snorkeling and sunbathing.
•Third Stop at Ai Giannis.
Ai Giannis Bay or Skala is a small seaside settlement in the prefecture of Boeotia with an altitude of 10 meters. It is located in the bay of Domvraini and it’s a seaside summer resort. With a population of only 7 inhabitants (census 2011) this remote fishing settlement offers a relaxing experience and the only tavern is ideal for lunch and tasting local, fresh fish.
